May Day 2010

A couple of weeks ago, Peanut's school celebrated May Day with the traditional May Pole dances, sword dances, and a celebration of spring time, flowers, and warm weather. It was the first time I had ever seen such an event, and I really enjoyed it. Each class was assigned a spring color to wear -- Peanut had a choice of pink or purple, but he was happy to find a "cool" looking pink shirt that wasn't too girly. The school orchestra played festive music while each grade of students performed their dances. The music was great, the kids were having fun, and the weaving of the May Pole was really quite impressive.
